SAL47. 2/8/49. Canta. Same population as SAL12. Retaken to include full sample of 25 plants, all have typical glandulosum scent. All with +/- 2 leaves per inflorescence and relatively widely spaced. See no need to take separate notes. Fruit set: [variable, but averaging about 50%]. Notes from SAL12: 10/25/48. Lycopersicon glandulosum? Canta, Km 108, 2700m. Pop. of 25+/- plants on N outskirts of town on steep slopes to Rio. Plants seem quite seem quite variable in leaf size and shape though this might be due to differing growth conditions. Most plants = old perennials sending out new growths at intervals, some very long stems measured that represent growth of 2 years. Fruit set is very heavy. Branch #1: 0[fruit]/5[flowers], 7/7,7/7,5/8, 2/9, 8/9, 8/8, 6/6, 6/6, 9/9, 8/9. Branch #2: 5/8, 8/8, 3/4, 6/9, 7/8, 7/8, 9/9, 6/6, 0/8, 4/4, 6/6, 7/7, 6/6. This species grows throughout wider elevation range than hirsutum (see #[SAL] 14 & 15) and tends to grow higher on canyon walls as if seeking the drier places. Specimen taken from no. of plants including a very vigorous form with larger leaves - suspect to be juvenile. Mostly small fruits 1/2 in. diameter, v. slightly pubescent with the purple line well developed. This form has only 2 nodes between inflorescences! [?] Fruits of neither this nor L. glandulosum said by natives or seen to be acceptable for grazing.
