SAL160. 9/15/56. L. hirsutum f. glabratum. El Mirador. Lookout on hill NE of Guayaquil, about 1 mile from center of city. On visit with Carlos Schwarz family. Several (6-8) plants on steep slope near crest of hill. Now scanty flower and few fruits. Large bushy plants growing in very dry situation with no other accompanying plants. Hilltop well above surrounding drainages, like [?]. 3-3 alternation, flowers small and stigmas exserted. No vectors seen. Obvious [?] spider damage. Specimens and fruit from one plant only. [Note added later:] Typical glabratum, fruits said to be eaten by grackles.
