SAL375. 10/19/70. L. peruvianum. San Mateo (Lima). 2,700 m. [Mileage] = 826. On S side of central highway 1 Km below San Mateo. S side of Rio on S roadbank. Single plant among scattered plants. Also saw a few plants 1-2 Km above San Mateo. Upper limit probably = 3,000 m. Typical L. "glandulosum" in respect to odor, dark green orbicular undulate crenate leaf segments. Inflorescence generally 2nd order. Fruits tend to be smallish whitish at maturity and line generally dark green with sligh puruplish. Only 1 plant seen with ripe fruit = this collection. This species extremely abundant from San Mateo to Surco and 12 mile below. Area literally yellow with its flowers. No insect vectors seen today (2-4pm) but raining at upper elevation and very overcast below. [Seed from 5 fruit of 1 plant].
