SAL3174. 1/19/79. L. chilense. Minas de Acari (Acari, Arequipa). 1,100 m. At head of Quebrada Calampampa, beyond main junction to minas. Immediately above Cap. Santa Rosa. Only living plant in this place. Population of about 25 plants in small tight group. All of same general morphological type as SAL3172. Mostly in good flower and scattered fruit set -- estimated +/- 25%. No pollinators seen. Collected flowers and fruit from +/- 15 plants. [Note added later:] Morphology similar to LA1931 (vigorous, despite drought, typical chilense foliage, grey pubescent, very long peduncles, crowded fourth order inflorescences, long exserted stigmas.
