SAL3205.  1/27/79.  S. lycopersicoides.  Chupapalca (Quebrada Palca).  3250 m.  5 Km above  (SE) Palca, by casa de Anastasio Paco-Aica, growing along road and side of house and beyond below.  Very old plants, local name 'tomatillo', 'not eaten but not poisonous'.  Varible flowering and fruit set, some with tremendous crop; fruits always firm, variation in fruit size and color, variable black overlay; saw large pollinating bee.  According to campesino, strong frosts of June and July will kill maize and beans, but not it!  Seems to prefer wetter places.  Old plants, 10-20 years age estimated; collected at upper altitude limit.  Jon Fobes saw large unidentified solitary bee.
